GIFT AID
Gift aid is tax relief on money donated to UK charities.
HMRC will treat donations as if the donor had already deducted basic rate tax from them. The charity can then reclaim this tax to increase the value of a donation.
This means that if you select 'add gift aid' when making a donation to charity, your sponsorship will be increased at no further cost to yourself, if you are a UK taxpayer, as the extra money comes out of the income tax that you will pay anyway.
